What is a blended orgasm? How to have a clitoral & vaginal orgasm at once

By Louise Head

Blending your orgasm is one of the simplest ways to take coming to the next level. A blended orgasm results from stimulating both the clitoris and the inside of the vagina at the same time. Some people say that these orgasms feel deeper, more intense, and last longer. Sounds pretty good, right?

According to one study, blended orgasms are actually the most common way people with vaginas are able to come during penetrative sex. Only about 6% of women can come from internal penetration alone (please disseminate this fact widely), while about 54% of women typically combine penetration and clitoral stimulation to achieve orgasm.

What’s the deal?

Before diving into how to you can get yourself one of these blended orgasms, it’s helpful to have a sense of how orgasms happen.

When you experience a blended orgasm, you’re most likely stimulating the external and internal parts of the clitoris. Internal parts of the clitoris, you ask? Yes! The clitoris extends up to five inches inside your body, roughly framing your labia. When you stimulate the G-spot on the interior frontal wall of your vagina, it most likely feels good because you’re putting pressure on the sensitive nerves of the clitoris from the inside. There are a few other nerves surrounding the vagina and the cervix that may be involved in orgasm as well, so as you set out to achieve the blended orgasm, touch all parts of the inside of your vagina to see what works.

How do I get one?

A great way to begin exploring blended orgasms is through masturbation. This way you can experiment with different types of touch and sensation on your own time

The first step is to locate your G-spot. You can find it by inserting two fingers into your vagina with your palm facing up and towards you. About two inches inside you should feel a spot where the tissue is slightly rougher or more textured than the surrounding vaginal wall. When you apply pressure to this spot it might feel pleasurable. Some people find G-spot stimulation overwhelming or uncomfortable. That’s OK too.

Alright, now that you’ve found your G-spot, leave it alone for a moment. Since the external clitoris is so sensitive, it can be easier to build up pleasurable, pre-orgasmy feeling there and then add internal stimulation once you’re turned on and there’s no turning back.

Start out by touching your clit in whatever way feels best to you. Use lube to make sliding over it easier. Once you’re feeling like omg yes this is so good, add the internal stimulation of your choice. Depending on how intense of a sensation you’re looking for, you can use your own fingers, a dildo, or a vibrator

Stroke them over your G-spot while continuing to stimulate your clit from the outside. Use more lube to keep the movement in and out of your vagina smooth and pleasurable. If the pressure on your G-spot is too intense to the point that it’s almost uncomfortable, it can interfere with actually reaching orgasm. As an alternative, just move your fingers or a sex toy in and out of your vagina without pressing too much against your frontal, vaginal wall.

Involve a boo

Once you’ve got a decent idea of what types of internal and external stimulation work for you, you can introduce your moves to a partner. The upside of involving another person is that they can often work angles that you can’t get at with your two hands alone. More opportunity for experimenting!

You can teach your partner to use their hands and/or sex toys in the same way that you do when you are masturbating. Your partner can also insert one or two fingers into your vagina while they are giving you oral. The mixture of someone’s tongue on your clit and their fingers providing pressure from the inside can result in some wild sensations.

If your partner has a penis, they can enter you from behind and reach around to touch your clit with their fingers while they move in and out of you. They can also stroke your clit while you are having penetrative sex with you sitting on top while they’re laying down.

Keep playing

Let the blended orgasm remind you that every orgasm is unique (yes, like a snowflake). Some are weaker. Some are stronger. Some rush through your entire body. And some make your vagina warm and happy. Keep experimenting with touch inside and out, all over your body, alone and with partners, to find the sensations that really do it for you.
