10 most popular erotic stories on Bellesa in 2018

By Jayne Renault

Another year has come and gone. And dang guys, was it ever a big, smutty year for us at Bellesa HQ!

Amongst a whole bunch of exciting things that happened this year, we added over 200 reads to our ever-growing collection of quality erotic short stories for you, all hand-crafted by some of the most stellar smutty wordsmiths in all the land.

Every one of our erotica authors is incredibly talented. That’s how they end up here in the first place. But at the end of the day, some stories did stand out slightly above the rest this year in terms of how much you all seemed to enjoy them.

Here are our ten most popular erotic stories in 2018:

10. Wading In by Rachel Woe

I especially love that this story is here because Rachel was worried people might not be into an homage to hot summer lovin’ nights in the middle of fall. Damn, did you prove her wrong.

Wading In is the story of Lorelai, a woman who has finally found comfort in her independence following the end of her last relationship. That is, until a very handsome new neighbor comes along and prompts her to think about who she is and what she wants now.

Not only is the story super hot, but the wordsmithing is characteristic of Rachel’s incredible, nigh-magical ability to weave complex and relatable characters — along with some of the most perfect similes I’ve had the pleasure of working with — into her prose. Her spot on this list is well-earned, indeed.

9. Dream Come True by Eva Monroe

Eva Monroe has been a powerhouse on the Bellesa scene since she first arrived in the spring of 2017. Her writing is super sexy, heavily laden with clever Dominants and wanton, willing submissive women. What is extra special about her style is her effective use of a second person twist to her narrative to turn you into one of the characters, and the effect is always very compelling, to say the least.

Coming into 2018, her writing evolved to take on another unique, distinctive trait — one of the characters’ gender is undefined, yielding even greater opportunity for customizing your reader experience.

The tale of hers that caught the most eyes this year was Dream Come True, a story of a woman whose unplanned nap threatens to make her and her partner late for a dinner party — something that doesn’t impress her fierce dominant lover at all. The punishments for such naughty behaviour on the submissive protagonist’s part are clever and ongoing throughout the night, including and not limited to while they’re sitting at their friend’s dinner table.

8. Friday’s Child by May More

May slid onto the scene with more gusto than we’ve ever seen before with this breakthrough piece. It was published in early December and immediately launched to super-stardom, making it the fastest chart-climbing story in Bellesa herstory. It might have something to do with having been named one of the Top 10 Sex Bloggers of 2018; regardless, this story is a work of art.

In Friday’s Child, Lisa spots a familiar face on the cover of a magazine, which whisks her back in time to 1989, where she was first coming into her own as a liberated young woman. On her journeys then, she met the devastatingly handsome Paul (“Did I mention he’s Irish?”) who is everything she could want in a lover and more. Until one day, when he makes a very unexpected reveal.

I’m not going to give away the surprise but after her initial shock, Lisa does find Paul’s secret more than appealing, which takes their relationship to even greater new heights.

7. Attagirl by Lauren Emily

Anyone who pays any attention to my Twitter feed knows that I have the biggest writer crush on Lauren Emily. She was the first author I hired when I ascended as Bellesa’s Smut Queen and she’s been with us ever since, perpetually adding to her really impressive collection of Bellesa Exclusive erotic serials.

Attagirl is a romantic bisexual coming of age masterpiece and deserves every ounce of praise it gets. We first meet Lily at the height of the Roaring Twenties in the bustling metropolis of Chicago. Lily is an eager young thing who has just moved to the city and she’s ready to make her on the world (and get a taste of everything the freedom of her new life has to offer).

On her self-discovery journey, she meets a whole host of colorful characters — including a handsome, respectful boss at a lingerie factory, a confident and beautiful roommate, a roguish charmer with a penchant for champagne, and a stunning burlesque dancer — all of whom help her uncover more about herself than she ever could have imagined.

Oh, and me? I’m #TeamCharles for life.

6. Devotee by Jayne Renault

I can honestly say that this one surprises me. And I don’t mean that in the humblebrag kind of way. I just didn’t expect, of all the stories I’ve written so far, that this would be the one that would captivate you all the most.

Devotee is a simple story of a girl who chases the thrill she gets by being with her very wayward lover (despite how often history has shown her that the highs never last). But through the madness of the ups and downs with this Leo character, she finally decides to take — and own — her pleasure instead of worrying so much about giving too much back all the time. As a result, she undergoes a bit of a spiritual transformation for the better.

It might also help that this scene is heavy on the female character receiving oral sex, and that Leo gives to her generously and without expectation.

5. Camp Ardenne 2: Shower Me With Kisses by Lauren Emily

No surprise that Lauren ended up on this list more than once. Shower Me With Kisses is just one more in a string of her many expertly crafted stories. (It’s actually the second instalment in the ongoing picaresque Camp Ardenne series, which has ruined me for the rest of my days. I have a crush on literally every single one of the characters, and there are a lot of them.)

This chapter’s focus is on Krysten. After harboring her crush on Foster — the leggy blonde improv counselor — all year long, Krysten is back at Camp Ardenne for another summer and comes face to, uh… face with her sexual white whale. In the special private shower reserved for the camp staff, no less. Need I say more?

Definitely one of the steamiest scenes I read all year. And judging by the numbers, you people seem to agree.

4. Tease by Mischa Eliot

Mischa blasted onto the scene with this one and took no prisoners. Since Tease first went up for your reading pleasure, it’s been one of most consistently read stories in the Bellesa library, and for good reason.

Mack is Piper’s (super handsome) boss. And she wants him fiercely. Even though she knows the kind of kinky things he’s into, having walked in on him tying up and spanking another woman in the garage once… (which obviously only made her want him even more.) One night when they’re working late together, Piper decides it’s time to take a chance on (very boldly) seducing him and see where it might lead them…

This ten-part BDSM mini-series can be enjoyed one sexy little bite-sized piece at a time to prolong the excitement, or you can binge it all in one big, smutty mouthful. Because there’s no shame in treating yourself to a little decadence. In fact, we encourage it.

3. Want by D. M. Simmons

I really like that this story made its way to one of the top spots because its beauty is in its simplicity. It’s a classic tale of intense intrigue at first sight and a connection that transcends life and circumstance. These two have loved each other right from the first glance and over time, they only grow deeper into each other.

Of course, there’s one glaring problem: he’s married to someone else.

But since breaching the contracts of a relationship will always be taboo — and therefore timelessly hot as an erotic theme — the infidelity aspect only adds to the heat. Want is a story of inexplicable connection and torrid lifelong love between two people who keep coming back to each other despite the consequences because they just can’t help themselves. Even if you don’t agree with their behavior, you have to admit that it’s a pretty sexy read.

2. A First Time for Everything by Rachel Kramer Bussel

Rachel Kramer Bussel is arguably one of the most influential names in erotica and has been for some time. Having contributed to over a hundred collections, and edited nearly that many more — the most notable among them right now being the acclaimed Best Women’s Erotica anthology series from Cleis Press — she’s had a major hand in molding the face of contemporary erotica for women for the better.

So it’s not the least bit surprising that a story she graced us with has slayed so hard this year. A First Time for Everything — originally published in X: The Erotic Treasury, edited by Susie Bright — is the story of one self-assured, sexually liberated woman who arranges her own bukkake party for the thrill of the new experience and yes, it’s as hot and wild as it sounds.

And the most read story of 2018 is…

1. Undone by Renee Dominick

This story has truly blown me away. When it landed in my inbox, I was obviously impressed and happy to give it a place in our catalogue. But I never could have anticipated the level of infamy it would reach, and in such a short amount of time.

In Undone, we meet a woman who is flying solo at her friend’s wedding. She may seem innocent with her bridesmaid’s dress and friendly demeanor, but beyond that sweet facade, she’s weaving the most lurid scenarios featuring herself and some of the guests.

As her wandering eye scans the room, she lands on the ultimate man of her dirty daydreams… He is devastating, he is elusive, he is perfect in every way she can imagine. But even if she manages to get to him in real life, will he be able to fulfill her imagined needs?

Only one way to find out.
